EDUCATION

EED1 Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE

EEX1 Experience in the development of fire prevention and life safety documents including the development of Fire Safety Plans, Emergency Procedures and training courses.
EEX2 Experience in helping to develop policies, standards, and guidelines.
EEX3 Experience in conducting fire prevention inspections or life safety building inspections.
EEX4 Experience in providing support and guidance on the operation and maintenance of fire protection or life safety systems.
EEX5 Experience in reviewing technical reports and documents to determine trends and deficiencies.

Degree equivalency

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

AED1: Education from a recognized post-secondary institution in fire protection, industrial safety, security, mechanical, electrical, civil, architecture or some other recognized specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
AED2: Eligibility for Certification from the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) as a Fire Alarm Technician.
AED3: Eligibility for recognition as a CET (Certified Engineering Technician).
AED4: Fire Investigation training to Level 1 (Fire Cause Determination) or higher.

EXPERIENCE

AEX1: Experience in project management, forecasting and contracting.

Degree equivalency

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

EK1: Knowledge of the practices of engineering fields and specialties as applied to the construction, operation and maintenance of fire protection and life safety infrastructure and equipment.
EK2: Knowledge of post-fire investigations and report writing.
EK3: Knowledge of the National Building and Fire Codes of Canada; the Canada Labour Code and the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
EK4: Knowledge of fire detection and fire suppression equipment and systems.
EK5: Knowledge of regulations related to personal protective equipment and use.

ABILITIES
