EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing.
AND
Master of Science in Nursing - Mental Health concentration or Mental Health Certificate combined with a year of significant and recent experience* in providing nursing care to a variety of persons experiencing mental health issues in a community mental health setting.
OR
Minimum of three years of significant and recent experience* in providing nursing care to a variety of persons experiencing mental health issues in a community mental health setting.
* “Significant and Recent Experience” is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities in community mental health nursing normally associated with full-time practice acquired within the last five years.
Note: Candidates must always have a university degree (Bachelors) as a minimal requirement.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent experience** providing biopsychosocial assessment and intervention to adult mental health patients with psycho-social difficulties.
Recent experience** providing counselling and therapy to adult patients with mental health issues.
Recent experience** working in a collaborative interdisciplinary practice environment.
** “Recent Experience” is defined as generally acquired during the last five years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, CPMHN(C).
Certificate in concurrent disorders such as addictions, sexology and others.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in working with patients suffering from concurrent disorders.
Experience working in delivering presentations and facilitating groups.
Experience in providing psychotherapy including, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, trauma therapy and Motivational interviewing techniques.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
