Anticipatory indeterminate, term, seasonal indeterminate, seasonal term and casual appointments. A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process may be used to fill similar positions of various tenures in the Pacific Region

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXP-1
Experience in equipment operation, maintenance and repair.

EXP-2
Experience working in outdoor environments. This could include working outdoors on fishery, forestry, parks projects or other labour relevant to hatcheries.

EDUCATION:
Graduation/Enrolled with a diploma/certificate/degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Completion of Swift Water Rescue Training
Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate
Jet Boat Operation Training
Radio Operators Licence
Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL)
Standard First Aid CPR C with AED
Bear Awareness Training
Trade ticket (e.g. welding, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
WHMIS training
Transportation of dangerous goods certificate
Class 3 or 4 Driver’s licence
Air Brake Certification
Forklift Operator certification
ATV Operators Certification
Rigging and slinging certification
Power saw limbing and bucking training

EXPERIENCE:
Experience operating and maintaining equipment associated with a fish culture facility.
Experience in the collection of biological data.
Experience in all aspects of Pacific salmon culture.
Experience working at, and/or operating spawning channels.
Experience in river swims for stock and habitat assessment purposes.
Experience working cooperatively with First Nations, volunteers, and other stake holders.
Experience with stock assessment and habitat restoration projects.

Conditions of employment

Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Medical Suitability (Health Canada Occupational Health Assessment)
Obtain and maintain security clearance (Reliability Status).
Willing and able to travel, occasionally for overnight durations.
Willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Willing and able to work weekends, holidays, shift work, and overtime.
Willing and able to participate in facility Occupational Safety & Health program and training.
Must possess and maintain a valid BC driver’s licence.
Must obtain and maintain a standard first aid certification with CPR.
Must be able to carry out field operation which may include but are not limited to traversing rough terrain, climbing stream banks and lifting of up to 20kgs, etc.
