Fueled by a dedicated workforce, Transport Canada’s Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) is seeking Training Pilots – Rotary Wing who are looking to work within a federal organization in the National Capital Region. The Aircraft Services Directorate is responsible for the provision of aviation services in support of Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard operations as well as those of other federal departments and agencies. This position is located at the Aircraft Services' hangar at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. Another perk of working here includes free parking for employees!

EDUCATION::
ED: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License - Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating.
OC2: Possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).
OC3: Possession of a Helicopter Night Rating.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1:At least 3000 hours of experience as a helicopter pilot including at least 2000 hours as Pilot-in-Command in a variety of turbine powered helicopters.
EX2:At least 500 hours of experience on multi-engine helicopters including at least 200 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
EX3:At least 200 hours of IFR experience on helicopters including at least 100 hours in actual instrument conditions.
EX4:Experience as a training pilot.
EX5:Experience in vertical reference and other external load operations.
EX6:Experience in developing and delivering classroom training.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
AOC1:Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport License - Helicopter (ATPL-H).
AOC2: Possession of a Helicopter Instructor rating.
AOC3: Possession of one or more of the following endorsements: BH06, B429, BH41 or BH407.
EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Experience as a training pilot in helicopter Full Flight Simulators (FFS)
AEX2: Experience with Night Vision Goggle (NVG) equipment.
AEX3: Experience in Shipboard operations.
AEX4: Recent* experience as a Certified Type A IFR TC Approved Check Pilot (ACP).
*"Recent" is defined as within the last 5 years

The position to be staffed requires an English essential linguistic profile.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established within Transport Canada and may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic requirements (English essential, Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC).

KNOWLEDGE:
K1:Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards governing the operations of VFR and IFR helicopters operations.
K2:Knowledge of teaching methods employed in helicopter training.
K3:Knowledge of helicopters aerodynamics
ABILITIES:
A1:Ability to develop, organize and direct training programs.
A2:Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations using Microsoft Power Point.
A3:Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A4:Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Successful completion of a Transport Canada Aircraft Services sponsored Helicopter Underwater Emergency Egress Training (HUET) within 6 months of employment.
Successful completion of requirements associated with the issuance of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Willing and able to work overtime as required.
Willing and able to travel across Canada and abroad.
