Assessment accommodation

Due to the nature of the work and location of the detachment, the hiring manager has requested that all of the interviews take place in person at the detachment. Please be advised that if you are unable to attend in person, you may be eliminated from the process.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.

Intent of the process

Please note this process will only be used to staff positions in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Applicants are encouraged to apply only if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Grande Prairie, Alberta.

This intent of this process is to staff one permanent position and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to future staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. permanent, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, processing mail and/or accounting (processing payables, receivables, payments).
Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software and/or financial software.
Experience providing services to internal and external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of secondary school education
Completion of post-secondary education in finance.

Training and/or experience in providing financial support services such as the collection and recording of monies received, handling petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, preparing invoices, verifying and correcting financial claims.
Experience in manipulating data in an electronic database
Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.
Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.

This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc. Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
