Working within a dynamic environment alongside Human Resources (HR) professionals, the HR assistant is responsible for the coordination of a variety of staffing activities. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of job advertisements for internal and external processes, the coordination of assessments such as exams and interviews, ongoing communication with candidates, and administrative management of staffing files.
Successful candidates will need be organized, demonstrate flexibility, have excellent keyboarding abilities, data entry skills and detail orientation. They must also demonstrate they can work effectively with others as the Public Service Human Resources unit is comprised of HR Assistants, HR Advisors, Team Leaders, Fast Track Coordinator, Career Development and Performance Management Administrators, all managed by an HR Manager. The client group extends across Alberta and the North West Territories.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
*Recent and significant experience in using databases for data entry, verification and data retrieval.
Experience writing and processing correspondence and maintaining files in an office setting.
Experience in drafting and reviewing documentation for error free work.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum period of one year within the last three years.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of post-secondary education in office administration or office assistant program.
Experience maintaining a Human Resources Management System, such as PeopleSoft, beyond self-service.
Experience providing administrative support services in Human Resources.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Ability and willingness to work overtime as required.
Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.
The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
