Here are examples of the Key Activities linked to this position:
- Operates various types of heavy and light equipment in order to assess their operating condition.
- Performs preventive maintenance and inspects, repairs and overhauls all heavy and light duty power generating equipment.
- During winter months*, operates snow removal equipment to assist with the removal of snow, ice, water and other contaminants from all airport surfaces both air and ground side.
* Limited vacation from October to April.

OCCUPATION CERTIFICATION
Journeyman's Heavy Equipment Repair Certificate
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the operation and repair of heavy equipment and hydraulic systems.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willing and able to work shift work as well as weekends.

Radio/Telephone Operator’s Certificate (aeronautical).

In addition to the hourly rate of pay, the positions in St. Anthony NL are subject to an Environmental Allowance and a Living Cost Differential as per the as per the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive:
ENVIRONMENTAL ALLOWANCE:
- Employee with dependants: $2.84 per hour
- Employee without dependants: $1.71 per hour
FUEL AND UTILITIES DIFFERENTIAL:
- Employee with dependants: $0.30 per hour
- Employee without dependants: $0.18 per hour
The hourly rates listed above are applicable to those employees whose scheduled hours of work are 40 per week.
For those employees whose scheduled hours of work are other than 40 per week, the hourly rate shall be determined by dividing the annual rate listed above by 52.176 and then dividing the result by the scheduled weekly hours of work for a full-time employee, as indicated in the relevant collective agreement or compensation plan.
