Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Parole Officer.

Parole Officers are essential to fulfilling the Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) mission of contributing to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane control.

The Parole Officer’s responsibilities include guiding the progress of offenders through a progression from most restrictive to least restrictive controls and from institutions to community supervision. They ensure that legal and policy requirements for reintegration are met as well as manage the reintegration of offenders throughout their sentences while trying to maintain public safety. Furthermore, they are responsible for assessing, analyzing and recommending potential transfer and release suitability of offenders as well as observing and interpreting the behaviour of the offenders/parolees.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree or applied degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field that focuses on understanding and assessing human behaviour.

OR

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and acceptable correctional experience.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCES
Experience in a correctional environment.
Experience in case management-risk assessment within a federal or provincial correctional facility.
Experience in case management-supervision within a federal or provincial community correctional office.
Experience in interviewing offenders within a federal or provincial correctional facility.

ABILITY
Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing in a language other than English/French that is reflective of the offender population diversity of the operational unit.

Candidates referred for further assessment will be provided with the online Parole Officer study package which takes approximately 60 hours to complete after which an on-line knowledge exam will be administered.

PREVIOUS ASSESSMENT RESULTS
Please note that if you have previously participated in a Parole Officer selection process with the Correctional Service of Canada since 2014, your results may be applied to the current selection process. This will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. You are required to submit an application to this selection process to be considered for further assessment.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of education and driver's license.

Candidates will be required to pay for their own travel expenses when attending all required assessments.

A top down selection and/or random selection may be applied at any stage of the selection process.

Candidates are entitled to participate in the selection process in the official language of their choice. Please indicate your preferred official language in your application.
