Get to know the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC):
The Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
CORCAN, as part of the Correctional Service of Canada, is responsible for the Employment and Employability Program for offenders serving a federal sentence. CORCAN support and operates a wide variety of interventions in federal institutions as well as for offenders under community supervision. Tradesperson positions with CORCAN provide a unique opportunity to conduct duties related to the trade in a correctional environment (institution and community based), providing on the job, vocational and apprenticeship training for offenders who are assigned to CORCAN job sites. The positions are located in federal correctional institutions or community based locations where CORCAN operates vocational training centers or is completing projects. Tradespersons employed in these areas are responsible to support the completion of products for clients while directly supervising and supporting employment and employability skills acquisition of offenders assigned to training in these locations. All incumbents must be willing to work on a regular basis within a federal correctional environment (institution and community), including direct interaction and supervision of offenders. Incumbents also have regular contact with other areas of CSC and the government, as well as clients, stakeholder groups and members of the public. This inventory is intended to staff positions with various linguistic profiles, various security profiles, and at various locations across the Atlantic Region. This includes various tenures such as (indeterminate, term and casual position). Consequently, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a valid Provincial or Inter-provincial Journeyman Certificate as a Plumber which is valid in the designated province of work.

NOTE: Experience will be defined as approximately 2 years work experience in a construction environment within the last 10 years.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
