The student will work towards identifying the anti-glycemic effect of oat derived polyphenol using intestinal cell culture systems and understand the role of glucose transporters using oocytes. The student will perform laboratory analyses, conduct statistical analyses of the data generated and contribute to the writing of scientific manuscripts.
The work will be conducted at the Agriculture of Agri-Food Canada Laboratory located at the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals with some of the experiments (oocytes experiments) being carried out in the university laboratories, both of which are located at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg (Manitoba).

Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by date of employment in a M.Sc. or Ph.D program at the University of Manitoba with specialization in Human Nutritional Sciences or related field.
Experience working in a lab environment.
Experience working with cell culture systems.
Experience conducting glucose transport studies.
Experience working with ocytes.
