Assessment accommodation

Duties

Stream 1: Finance Allocation and Transfer Payments (FATP)
FATP Grants and Contributions (Vote 10) Financial Advisor
• Provide advisory services to Program Managers and senior management on resource management, planning and allocation related to grants and contribution budget.
• Provide quality assurance services for Financial information tracking sheets.
• Interpret, apply and adhere compliance with various Financial and program policies.

FATP Operations and Capital (Vote 1) Financial Advisor
• Provide advisory services to Program Managers and senior management on resource management, planning and allocation related to operational and capital budget.
• Provide quality assurance services for transactions related to the budget.
• Interpret, apply and adhere compliance with various Financial policies.

FATP Accounting Operations Financial Advisor
• Provide corporate accounting services to the region.
• Prepare Departmental Financial statements and related adhoc queries on behalf of the Region.
• Interpret, apply and adhere compliance with various Financial policies.

Stream 2: Band Audits and Allegations Financial Advisor
• Review of Recipient audited financial statements to determine compliance with funding terms and conditions and financial presentation requirements;
• Handle incoming regional calls for complaints and allegations and subsequent triage to operational areas and/or response to public;
• Technical financial analysis on an ad-hoc basis in support of regional funding policy implementation.

This is an anticipatory process aiming to create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool may be used to staff positions on a term and/or permanent basis in Edmonton, Alberta.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics or possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in interpreting and applying financial policies and/or procedures.

Experience preparing documents using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Asset Qualifications:

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics.

Degree equivalency

Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation (i.e., CA, RIA/CMA, CPA or CGA).

Possession of a CA, CMA, CPA or CGA designation.

Experience:
Experience supervising staff

Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work overtime.
