Duties

The Psychological well-being and Mental Health are an RCMP priority. The incumbents will join the multidisciplinary teams of the Occupational Health Services across the country. The position is responsible for the delivery of psychological assessment, early intervention, prevention initiatives and offer psy-education sessions to our dedicated and passionate Police Officers. In times of need, the Psychologist may be called upon to offer psychological first aid. As part of the overall RCMP Psychologists group, the incumbents will be provided with regular and timely national peer meetings for case discussions, and consultation.

Intent of the process

A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions across Canada within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various unilingual and/or bilingual linguistic profiles and a RCMP Top Secret security clearances.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in personnel psychology, psychometrics, industrial psychology, clinical psychology or some other specialty relevant to the position.

1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

CERTIFICATION
Registration for autonomous practice of psychology by a province or territorial registering/licensing body in Canada.

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience in the provision of psychological services such as personality assessments, differential diagnosis or other psychological services, with adults.
EX2: Experience in liaising with external mental health providers and specialists.
EX3: Experience in providing psychoeducational sessions (such as psychological first aid).

Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team approach in an occupational health context.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
