Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff 1 position within the National Capital Region.

A list of qualified candidates will be established and will be used to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various security requirements within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. These positions may be staffed on a permanent or temporary basis (term, acting, assignment, secondment).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, or college diploma with acceptable specialization in desktop publishing.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution but not necessarily within the degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

* Significant experience in desktop publishing for printed and digital publications, editing documents and texts in English and French on a regular basis.

** Significant experience working with desktop publishing software Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience working with contractors in desktop publishing or commercial printing or web design

*Significant Experience: 5 years or more professionally in the last 7 years.
** Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have 5 to 10 years of experience and have demonstrated proof, with examples, of their experience in the field of desktop publishing. This experience needs to have been acquired within the last five (5) years for a period of at least one (1) year.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Knowledge:
Knowledge of marine navigation terminology to provide safe navigation in Canadian waters.

· Knowledge of the mandate of the Department and the Canadian Hydrographic
Service
. Knowledge of navigational products produced by Canadian Hydrographic Service
. Knowledge of desk-top publishing using Adobe Creative Suite
. Knowledge of the publication publishing process
. Knowledge of basic troubleshooting practices.

. Ability to organize and prioritize work and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
. Ability to work with clients to provide digital support regarding installation or troubleshooting of
basic digital product usage issues
