Assessment accommodation

There is an immediate need to staff two (2) permanent positions in BORDEN, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

Occupational Certification:
OC1 Possession of a valid Ontario 307A Steamfitter/Pipefitter trade certificate or equivalent inter-provincial trade certification as acquired through a provincial/territorial regulatory body

Experience:
EX1 – Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing high pressure steam heating distribution systems.
EX2 – Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing hot water heating systems.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial or territorial equivalent
• A current and acceptable driver’s abstract
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver’s license
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used in a construction/maintenance environment according to safety regulations.
• Must be able to work under the following conditions: may include but is not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb stairs; work from ladders, scaffolding and elevated platforms.
• Must be willing and able to be on a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Willingness to work overtime including weekends.
• Must maintain a valid trade's license or Red Seal certification or certification of qualification throughout their employment with the Department.

Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications noted in the Statement of Merit Criteria to be appointed to a position. A candidate may be appointed to a position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
