Work environment

Positions are located at 1426 St. Joseph Boulevard, Orleans, Ontario.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

Information you must provide

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Recent experience installing, configuring and maintaining at least three (3) of the following five (5) technologies: routers, managed switches, VPNs, firewalls and proxies
Recent experience installing, configuring and maintaining Windows or Linux services on virtualized or physical infrastructures;
Recent experience in writing software tools in programing or scripting languages such as: Python, Powershell or Linux shell or equivalent.

* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five years

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience with legal authorizations such as Transmission Data Recorder (TDR) warrants, General Warrants and Part VI authorizations
Network security/penetration testing related experience and/or certification(s) such as OSCP, OSWP, OSCE, GIAC GSEC

Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice
Willingness to be designated with Peace officer status
Willingness and ability to testify in court

Knowledge of security best practices related to network and server security
Knowledge of virtualization products such as ESXi, Hyper V, Virtualbox, or equivalent
Knowledge of Network Security/Penetration testing

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally on short notice
Must complete the Covert Access and Intercept Team (CAIT) mandatory Training/Certification
