Possession of a valid Inter-Provincial journeyman trade certification in carpentry

Experience with working at height.
Experience in refurbishment and construction of buildings and structures.
Experience in building concrete forms, and placing and finishing concrete.
Experience in the installation of building exterior protective materials.

Ability to communicate orally
Ability to communicate in writing

Forklift Operator’s Certification
Experience in field or remote site operations.
Experience in the construction, modification, maintenance, repair, or life cycle management of CCG Aids to Navigation, associated facilities or assets.
Experience in working with helicopters.
Experience with working at height
Experience working in the Pacific marine environment and basic seamanship

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Valid Health Canada Medical
• Willing and able to travel for up to 3 week periods of time to remote sites via trucks, boats and aircraft
• Willing and able to work weekends, overtime and travel on short notice
• Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work outdoors in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea
• Valid driver’s licence
• Ability to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m

Operational Requirements:
• Domestic travel using various means of transportation such as ships, boats, planes, and helicopters, often on short notice.
• Ability and willingness to conduct site visits, involving walking over rough terrain and/or climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, or other structures.
• Work overtime as required.
