OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC1 – Possession of a valid Ontario 306A Plumber trade certificate or equivalent inter-provincial trade certification as acquired through a provincial/territorial regulatory body.
OC2 – Possession of a valid Ontario G1 Gas Technician trade certificate or equivalent inter-provincial trade certification as acquired through a provincial/territorial regulatory body.
OC3 – Possession of a valid Ontario 307A Steamfitter/Pipefitter trade certificate or equivalent inter-provincial trade certification as acquired through a provincial/territorial regulatory body.
OR
OC4- Possession of a Military Plumbing and heating trade qualification (QL6A)
EXPERIENCE:
Based on the position to be staffed one or more of the following may be applied:
EX1 – *Recent Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems.
EX2 – *Recent Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing hot water heating systems.
EX3 – *Recent Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing high pressure steam heating distribution systems.
EX4 – *Recent Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing hot water distribution systems.
EX5 – *Recent Experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing heating systems.
*Recent Experience is defined as experience acquired in the last five (5) years.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
OR1 – Must be willing obtain a Backflow Prevention Device certificate within 2 years of initial appointment.
OR2 – Willing and able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver’s license.
Reliability Status security clearance
• Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial or territorial equivalent.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used in a construction/maintenance environment according to safety regulations.
• Ability to work under the following conditions: may include but is not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Work in confined spaces, climb stairs; work from ladders, scaffolding and elevated platforms.
• To be on a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in.
• Willingness to work overtime including weekends.
• Must maintain a valid trade's license or Red Seal certification or certification of qualification throughout their employment with the Department.
• Registration as a journeyperson candidate or certification as a journeyperson. This is mandatory for regulated trades.
