The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.

What you will be doing:
Within a team of dedicated HR professionals, the Human Resources (HR) assistant is responsible for the coordination of a variety of staffing activities. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of job advertisements for internal and external processes, the coordination of assessments such as written exams, interviews and second language evaluations, ongoing communication with candidates, as well as the management of electronic staffing files.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A university degree specializing in business, human resources, organizational behaviour, industrial relations or other relevant specialization OR a post-graduate certificate in human resources.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience working in a human resources team providing administrative support including serving internal and external clients.
• Recent and significant experience in drafting correspondence, and corresponding with job applicants or clients, on behalf of an organization, including phone calls or emails.
• Recent and significant experience in using Microsoft Office suite, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
You may be required to meet one or a combination of any of these asset experience criteria, and therefore, if you possess it you should provide details in your resume.

• Experience working in a Federal Public Service Department or Agency, in an administrative role.
• Recent experience in coordinating and liaising with all levels of management, including senior management, with regards to staffing processes.
• Experience working with an electronic records management system or a human resources information system (HRIS).
• Recent experience working in human resources providing administrative support within the financial services industry*.

* Financial services industry includes experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures related to staffing in the Federal Public Service under the Public Service Employment Act.
