Work environment

The RCMP Information Management and Technology Branch in BC is looking for experienced business analysts/project managers to assist on a variety of technology projects. You will have the opportunity to work with various stakeholders and across multiple teams within the RCMP.

The team is located at the RCMP BC Headquarters in Surrey, BC. The office has great amenities and is only a short walk to the King George Skytrain station. This role works Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work variable start times or completing their hours of work over 8 or 9 days instead of 10 in a two week period. This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

These are temporary positions until March 31, 2020, with possibility of extension.

Phase 1 of this process will be used to staff one temporary position as outlined above. Only candidates who indicate that they are willing and able to accept a temporary position will be considered for Phase 1 if they are referred. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure they correctly indicate Employment Tenure they are seeking in the applicable section of the application. In future, management may undertake additional Phases should a permanent position become available.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies, similar or lower-level positions, for term, permanent and acting, at full or part time hours.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Education
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note: Indeterminate employees of positions in the CS Group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the education requirement based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Significant and recent experience working on projects in an IM/IT environment with technical and non-technical stakeholders analysing requirements, performing functions such as liaising with business and/or technical stakeholders, leading requirement elicitation working sessions, developing and presenting recommendations/solutions.
• Experience in the use of project management methodologies.

Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of duties over approximately 1 year or more
“Recent” is defined as the performance of duties within approximately the last 18 months

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.



Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
