• Allow us to introduce you to another facet of Health Canada
Health Canada’s Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP) offers Occupational Health Medical Services Managers a unique opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Health Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Occupational Health Physicians, Administrative Officers and Managers who, together, make a REAL difference in the health of Canadian Federal Public Servants.
As one of the largest employers in the country, Health Canada provides you with an exceptional workplace, opportunities for professional development, a generous education allowance, reimbursement of professional nursing licence fees and access to continued learning throughout your career. You will also enjoy benefits (dental and health care) for you and your family, an appealing pension plan and access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program.
Most of all, Health Canada values your well being and appreciates that you have a life outside of work. As such, you will bask in the comfort of a Monday to Friday work week (no shift work/no weekends). Based on demand, you will be asked to conduct Occupational Health Nurse clinical duties to cover surge capacity.
You will be supported every step of the way with access to successful networking and mentoring programs that enable you to connect with managers from across the department and peers at various experience levels.
This inventory is intended to staff positions with various language requirements on a temporary and permanent basis. We currently have vacancies in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Halifax. Positions in Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Montreal could become available at any time. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
If this opportunity is not for you but you know someone that would be perfect for us, please pass it on. While we can’t provide a finders fee, we guarantee you will feel rewarded in helping us find a match!
You are talented, driven and want to make a meaningful contribution that really impacts the health of Canadian Federal Public Servants and we want you!
• What will you be doing?
The PSOHP is the occupational health service provider responsible for the provision of three service lines for federal government department employers: Occupational Health Evaluations Services, Communicable Diseases Services and Occupational Hygiene Advice.
As such, some of the challenging and rewarding duties you will be undertaking are:
- Managing the daily operation, administration and delivery of Occupational Health (OH) medical services including the delivery of OH nursing services in the Regions;
- Managing the daily operation and administration of the Regional OH medical clinic(s) in collaboration with the OH Medical Officer(s), Administrative Officer and Regional Manager;
- Directly supervising all regional OH Nurses who may be located across multiple locations and provinces in some regions;
- Serving as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders for information on OH medical services in the Regions;
- Advising clients and stakeholders on the interpretation of national and regional medical clinic initiatives, policies, guidelines and administrative procedures; and,
- Conducting OH Nurse clinical duties on an if/as required basis.
• We’ve established why you should work with us. Our question to you now is, WHERE?
The culturally diverse city of Winnipeg perhaps? *Known for unique winter experiences, flourishing arts scene, colourful festivals, and character neighbourhoods, as well as its green spaces and access to outdoor activities. Not to mention the more than 1,100 restaurants, numerous world-class attractions, museums, theatres and sports venues.
Or would you prefer Halifax? **Rated one of the top ten friendliest cities in Canada with its mild winters and gorgeous summers. The weather rarely gets extremely hot or extremely cold. This is a result of Halifax being situated by the sea. The Atlantic Ocean is a major influence on the city’s moderate, yet always changing weather.
Wait, there is also Vancouver! ***A west coast seaport in British Columbia, is among Canada’s densest, most ethnically diverse cities. Vancouver is also a popular filming location with its surrounding mountains. The city offers world class shopping, gourmet meals, outdoor adventure and much more.
