Duties

The selected student will conduct laboratory and field work, at the Prairie & Northern Wildlife Research Centre in Saskatoon and at a field site near Fort Good Hope, NT, to implement a research program to identify the key predictors of scoter distribution in the northwestern boreal forest.The student is expected to be involved in experimental design, sample collection, statistical analyses of results, and preparation of manuscripts.

EDUCATION

• Student must be currently enrolled in a Master's Program in the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan and have full-time student status

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience* in Biology including Ecological Methods, Wildlife Management, and Conservation Biology.
• Experience* conducting field research.

*In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities..

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability and willingness to conduct work in remote field camps including but not limited to: travel in small fixed and rotary wing aircraft and relevant safety training.
• Current Wilderness / Remote First Aid certification
• Pleasure Craft Operator Card
• Canadian Firearms Safety Course
• Aviation Egress training
• ATV training
