Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) permanent position in Petawawa, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering or applied science

OR

Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering technologist or technician program

OR

Secondary school diploma AND one of the following certificates/qualifications:
a) Possession of one or more of the following valid certificates of qualification issued by the province of Ontario OR inter-provincial red seal certificate of qualification:
• General Carpenter
• Electrician – All types less Domestic and Rural
• Refrigeration and Air conditioning Systems Mechanic
• Plumber
• Powerline Technician
• Steamfitter / Pipefitter
• Sheet Metal Worker
• Industrial Electrician
• Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer
• Construction Millwright
• Gas and Oil Technician (equivalent to TSSA G1)
• Petroleum Mechanic
• Operating Engineer (equivalent to TSSA 2nd Class or higher)
• Instrumentation and Controls Technician
• Water Treatment and Distribution Systems
and/or
b) Military qualification in construction engineering (QL 6A or DP-3B)

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• *Recent and **significant experience in managing multi-trade work groups responsible for providing infrastructure maintenance
• *Recent and **significant experience in human resources administration such as performance management, delegating work, mentoring
• *Recent and **significant experience in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• **Significant experience in scheduling and supervising maintenance work required to meet compliance standards and regulations

*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience usually acquired by regularly performing a broad range of various, complex activities which are normally acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.

• Willingness and ability to work overtime
• Willing and able to travel

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Possession of a valid unrestricted Ontario Class G Driver’s license or provincial or territorial equivalent
• A current and acceptable driver’s abstract (if not already in possession of a DND 404)
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver’s license
