ASSET - (a) Have operational experience in an emergency environment in the field of transportation safety or security; or (b) possess a pertinent background in the fields of marine, aviation, rail or road, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).

Duties

As an Intelligence Analyst & Operational Support at the PM-04 level, you will monitor emerging or possible threats to the national transportation system.

This brings a lot of collaboration with various departmental groups, including the regions, provincial and territorial governments, as well as key industry partners.

Mainly, you will manage the response of emergency situations that affect Canada’s national transportation system.

Intent of the process

All positions within the national TCSC are located in the NCR.

The assessment will take place in Ottawa, Ontario, as the TCSC plays a key role in assessing candidates and determining who will be selected to join the team.

Successful candidates may be contacted for bilingual positions of different types and lengths within the Emergency Management group, or any other position at TC with similar qualifications.

Our intent is to staff a first position by July 2019.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in research, analysis and synthesizing reports.

Experience in two or more of the following:
1. Experience in emergency preparedness or emergency management;
2. Experience working in an Operations Centre*;
3. Experience in initiating or coordinating or participating in an organizational response to an incident**;
4. Experience working in a critical infrastructure program;
5. Experience in the development and creation of geomatics products.

(*) Operations Centre is defined as a work location where these activities are conducted:
1. Command and control operations; and
2. Communication; and
3. Management of resources and information.

(**) Incident is defined as an occurrence and/or event that interrupts normal procedure or precipitates a crisis.

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience working in the aviation field.

Experience working in the rail field.

Experience working in the marine field.

Experience working in the field of motor vehicle safety.

Experience monitoring media, including electronic press, newspaper, social media, radio and television.

Experience working in a Federal/Provincial/Territorial Emergency Operations Centre.

Experience working in an emergency management environment, or related fields.

Experience developing emergency management or national security exercises.

Conditions of employment

1. Secret security clearance.

2. In the event of an emergency relocation (business continuity), you must be willing and able to lift and carry objects (approximately 10 kilograms) on occasions, up and down several flights of stairs.

3. During an incident/crisis response, you may be required to perform overtime on short notice.

4. All employees are required to work shift work as part of a 24/7 operation Centre (24 hours per day, 7 days per week, open all year).
