This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.
This process is intended to staff one temporary vacancy of approximately two years in duration in Chilliwack, BC.
A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) in Chilliwack or Surrey, BC. Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Essential Qualifications
Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
An acceptable combination is defined as any two of the following:
Education: Completion of two years of secondary school.
Training: Completion of practical or classroom training in warehouse operations.
Experience: Approximately 2 years experience working in a warehouse environment.
Experience (Common):
1. *Recent and **significant experience in material management such as receiving, shipping, distribution, storage and replenishment of goods in a warehouse environment.
2. Experience in operating warehouse handling equipment such as fork lift and pallet jack.
3. *Recent experience operating a computer in a windows environment using MS Word and MS Excel.
*Recent experience is defined as the performance of duties within the last 5 years.
**Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of relevant experience acquired via the performance of duties for 1 year over the past 5 years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
1. Experience working in a parts supply and/or parts inventory environment.
2. Experience working in a policing environment.
3. Experience in the receipt, issue, storing and shipping of Restricted and Non-Restricted Weapons.
ORGANIZATION NEEDS:
1. In support of achieving a representative workforce, consideration may be given to candidates who have self-identified as a member of one or more of the following designated groups: women, members of visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
2. Preference may be given to RCMP employees impacted/affected by work force adjustment.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Willingness and ability to lift/move heavy boxes and equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
2. For positions in Surrey: Willingness to undertake internal courses for the handling of use of force equipment such as Tasers, firearms, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray and chemicals.
Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.
For positions in Surrey: Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.
If you do not fully complete the screening questions as instructed, you may be screened out. It is not acceptable to put “see resume” in the space provided to answer the questions.
Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.
Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.
Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

Pass marks will be established for each qualification. However, achieving the pass mark is not a guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process.
