As a CSC health care professional, you will join a collegial, dynamic and diverse team of highly dedicated professionals who believe in their abilities and the impact they can have on changing lives. You will provide offenders with effective health services that encourage individual responsibility, promote healthy reintegration, and contribute to safe communities.

Nurses in CSC provide a wide range of services to the offender population. Our nurses are involved in diverse activities including: the ongoing assessment and treatment of health conditions, educating offenders on infectious diseases and healthy lifestyles, and addressing the mental health needs of offenders.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or college with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent and significant* frontline experience in one or more of the following areas: psychiatric, medical-surgical, emergency or other related fields.
(*Recent and significant frontline experience is normally gained over 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.
Relevant additional certifications.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience managing human resources.
Experience managing financial resources.
Experience in program management such as needs assessment, planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluation.
Experience in coordinating Health and/or Training Programs.
Experience in dealing with Aboriginal communities.
Experience in dealing with community-based health organizations, such as public health or mental health.
Experience in planning, developing, coordinating and supporting the implementation of comprehensive formal discharge/post release plans for individuals with complex medical problems.
Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.
Experience working in a correctional environment.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of nursing management strategies in the delivery of health services.
Knowledge of professional Standards of Practice from the college of Nurses for the respective Province of Work.
Knowledge of the issues and trends affecting the management and delivery of health programs.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Medical Clearance through Health Canada or alternatives designated by Health Canada.
Valid CPR certificate with AED.
Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in the Province of Work, with no conditions or restrictions.
