The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff three indeterminate position in Edmonton, Alberta. A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and levels with various tenures and security profiles.

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possession of a valid interprovincial journeyman certification (Red Seal) or valid provincial certificate in the applicable province of employment as a Carpenter or any other equivalency recognized by the provincial or territorial authority such as a Qualification Level (QL) 5 - Construction Technician.

Significant* and recent* experience working as a carpenter.

Note: Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally acquired by performing a broad range of various, complex related activities over a period of approximately three (3) years.

Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.

Experience working as a carpenter in maintenance and construction.

Experience operating a personal computer.

Experience using Microsoft Office software.

Experience as a finishing carpenter.

Experience as a cabinet maker.

Experience mentoring apprentices.

Experience inspecting, estimating, and prioritizing work

Experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of structural systems
