A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

- Possession of a valid Nova Scotia or interprovincial journeyperson’s certification in the painting and decorating trade or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. Candidates with proper certification will be assessed first.

- Experience in the application of stain and lacquers applications
- Experience in the application of oil and water based ceiling and wall paints
- Experience in patching mudding and tapping drywall

Information on language requirements

- Knowledge of paints, applicable tools and proper preparation and painting procedures
- Knowledge of safety practices such as; handling noxious, volatile or caustic chemicals and substances and procedures such as; proper ventilation, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as respirators in specific, potentially dangerous or hazardous situations.
- Knowledge of Environment Practices as they relate to this field
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures such as; stock and updating Material Safety Data Sheets

- Ability to communicate effectively orally
- Ability to maintain and control tools
- Ability to use a computer and various computer based applications

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)

- Reliability and security: Must be able to obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance
- Possession of a Valid Provincial Class 5 Driver’s License
