Intent of the process

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EN-ENG-06 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with an MSc from a recognized university in materials engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada.

Degree equivalency

Recent and significant experience in planning, designing, implementing and leading research projects involving industry, academia and/or federal laboratories.
Minimum three years experience in carrying out research projects addressing pipeline issues.
Recent and significant experience in creating and sustaining collaborations with key stakeholders in the oil and/or gas industry.
Experience in human, financial and materiel management.
*Recent is defined as within the last five years
*Significant is defined as at least three years

Knowledge of federal legislation and regulations as they relate to management of pipeline safety and materials specifications.
Knowledge of current materials engineering issues for the pipeline and related oil and gas infrastructure industries.
Knowledge of the scientific theories and principles of pipeline materials, failure, and monitoring.
Knowledge of the steps required to commercialize new technologies in the pipeline industry or its supply chain.

Ability to establish cost-recovery and resource-sharing agreements involving public and private sector scientific and professional officials as clients or partners.

Graduation with a PhD from a recognized university in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Five or more years experience commercializing scientific research in the pipeline industry.

Knowledge of intellectual property and technology licensing and legal requirements.
