The intent of this process is to staff 1 indeterminate position in Borden ON. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with varying tenures, including casual, in Borden.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Depending on the position to be staffed, one or more of the following may be required:

-Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license issued by the Province of Ontario or an Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate enabling the candidate to obtain said licence (required prior to being eligible for any offer of employment).
-Possession of a valid 310S Automotive Service Technician license issued by the Province of Ontario OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310S Automotive Service Technician license.
-Possession of a valid Class “G” driver’s license without restrictions issued by the Province of Ontario or other provincial equivalent.
-Possession of a valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class “A” vehicles with airbrake endorsement (Z) or other provincial or territorial equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Depending on the position to be staffed, one or more of the following may be required:

-Experience in the inspection and repair of gasoline engines
-Experience in the inspection and repair of diesel engines
-Experience in the inspection and repair of vehicle components (e.g. drive train, suspension systems, etc.).
-Experience in diagnosing vehicle faults

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

-Experience in the inspection and repair of a variety of Heavy Duty Equipment.
-Experience using an SAP based program
-Recent* experience as a mechanic in a licensed garage or dealership, or DND Vehicle Maintenance Workshop
*Recent is defined as within the last five years
-Experience in the inspection and repair of firefighting equipment
-Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-May be required to work overtime.
-May be required to work weekends and evenings.
-May be required to work standby recovery duties on a rotating basis.
-May be required to travel.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
-Requirement to obtain and maintain ‘Reliability Status’ security clearance.
-Eligibility and requirement to obtain and maintain current membership at the Ontario College of Trades as a fully licenced 310T Truck and Coach Technician.
-Must maintain a valid Class “G” license without restrictions issued by the Province of Ontario or other provincial equivalent.
-Eligibility and requirement to obtain and maintain a DND Driver’s Licence (DND 404).
-Ability to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 35 lbs.
-Adherence to the DND and CF Code of Values and Ethics.
-May be required to work overtime.
-May be required to work standby duties on a rotating basis.
-Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
-Will be required to complete periodic departmental and trade training and/or upgrading.
