Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one indeterminate (permanent) position in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. A pool may be established and could be used to fill similar positions within the Department of National Defense with various language proficiencies and security profiles.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing

Completion of an accredited educational program for Nurse Practitioners in Primary Health Care.

Degree equivalency

Certification as a registered nurse practitioner in a province or territory of Canada.

Depending on the position being staffed, any of the qualifications below may be deemed as an essential “must have” or an asset qualification “nice to have”:

Experience in working with a broad range of medical conditions and disabilities as a Nurse Practitioner.

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary collaborative practice environment.

Experience in at least one of the following areas: ambulatory care, acute care, community health care or health education.

Ability to operate independently within the scope of nurse practitioner practice.

Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to counsel patients and consult with other health care professionals.

Ability to communicate orally.

Masters Degree in Nursing

Degree equivalency

Nursing experience in a family practice environment.

Experience working within the Canadian Forces Health Services.

The requirement to work overtime may be required at short notice.

Travel outside of the immediate area on short notice may be required.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Candidates must meet and maintain the above conditions of employment throughout their employment.

Candidates must possess a Nurse Practitioner licence in good standing from the provincial regulatory body of the province in which employment is sought, by the commencement of employment

A confidential health questionnaire completed by the employee together with a physician and followed by a full clinical history and physical examination by the physician
