This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.
Work is performed in a police environment where there are inherent stresses and distractions and exposure to unsettling reports when transcribing recorded incidents or complaints.
There are constant interruptions in order to respond to requests for service or information. Occasionally there are disagreeable interactions with external clients such as witnesses, victims, accused and suspects, and complainants, who are at times confused, fearful, hostile, or in shock about a situation or circumstance (missing child, assault, emergency situations).
There is a requirement to be in the detachment office alone, when police officers are on patrol or off duty.
The immediate need is to staff a permanent part time position (30 hours per week) in Hudson’s Hope, BC.
A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) in the area of selection.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience performing general clerical duties, such as file management, reception, processing mail.
2. Experience using word processing and/or spreadsheet programs such as MS Word and Excel.
3. Recent experience providing financial support services, such as purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, producing financial reports, etc.
“Recent” means experience obtained within approximately the last 2 years.

Asset Qualifications
1. Recent* experience using PRIME (Police Records Information Management Environment).
2. Experience using police computer applications and programs such as CPIC, JUSTIN, and PIRS
3. Experience in transcribing from audio or digital recordings.

Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.
Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.
Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
