Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in geoscience.
Experience operating a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM);
Experience performing quantitative elemental analysis by Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (EDS) or Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometry (WDS);
Experience preparing technical and scientific reports.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge of the theories of microbeam techniques;
Knowledge of diagnostic physical and chemical properties of common minerals and mineral systems.
Ability to supervise activities in a multi-user analytical facility;
Ability to provide technical guidance and instruction to scientific staff and students;
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance of analytical instruments;
Ability to communicate effectively orally;
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Experience analyzing geological materials using a Scanning Electron Microscope.
Experience performing sample preparation procedures on geological materials for microbeam analysis.
Experience in quantitative image analysis.
Experience with day-to-day maintenance of a Scanning Electron Microscope, Transmission Electron Microscope or electron microprobe.
Experience performing Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) analyses.
Experience working on geoscience projects as part of a scientific team.
Knowledge of image analysis techniques;
Knowledge of quantitative calibration methods for elemental analysis using microbeam techniques.
Ability to develop new analytical methods with guidance.
Ability to manage large datasets.
Willingness to work in laboratory environment.
