The Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) Service is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) under the SAR Program.

This opportunity can provide:
• real time experience in SAR operations
• training by Canadian Coast Guard SAR Program Officers (subject-matter experts)
The intent of this process is to select Supervisors for the Canadian Coast Guard’s Inshore Rescue Boat North station, to be located in the Arctic. The station will operate full-time during the summer (May to Labour Day 2019) after the completion of the mandatory training for all Supervisors and Crewmembers prior to the operational season. Training will commence in late-April 2019.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and could be used to staff these or similar positions with various tenures within the Canadian Coast Guard.

Rigid Hull Inflatable Operator Training (RHIOT) Certificate
Marine Emergency Duties (A3) Certificate
Restricted Radio Operator's Certificate – Maritime
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate or higher
Valid CPR-C Certificate or higher
Significant experience in search and rescue (SAR) operations at a CCG Station or on a CCG vessel.**
**Significant experience is defined as 2 or more operational seasons operating CCG Zodiac 733s or 753s
Watchkeeping Mate Certification or higher
Bridge Watch certificate
Valid Rescue Specialist certificate
Experience supervising new deckhands in a ship or station environment
Experience as a Coxswain or in the IRB program
Experience providing First Aid services to injured persons in a real-life operational setting
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of procedures for search and rescue operations and the current manual.
Knowledge of applicable acts and regulations, such as the Collision Regulations, the Canada Shipping Act, and the Canada Labour Code Part II as they pertain to the operations of a CCG Fast Rescue Craft and SAR station.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing; Please note: The ability to communicate in writing will be assessed using the written material submitted during the application process.

Health Canada Periodic 3 and Transport Canada Marine Medical, as required.
Must be willing and able to travel.
Must be willing to wear and maintain a uniform per Canadian Coast Guard standards, inclusive of CSA approved safety footwear, and maintain job related personal safety equipment.
Must be willing and able to work at any IRB North station or training location.
Must be willing and able to accept on-call duties.
Must be willing and able to work overtime.
Must be willing and able to accept a time on / time off work schedule.
Must be willing and able to adjust your current work schedule to match up with the IRB work and training schedule.
Must be willing and able to work in adverse conditions such as those found in the marine environment.

Meals and quarters will be provided for all on-cycle Supervisors while on station and during training in 2019.
