Duties

Under the supervision of a research scientist in conjunction with a university professor from the university where the student is recruited, the candidate will conduct research in the area of basic microbiology, molecular biology, and protein immune-chemistry to develop vaccines for the control of necrotic enteritis, and other work as requested.

Work environment

The lab is located at the Guelph Research and Development Centre – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Guelph, On). The incumbent will apply molecular biological and microbiological techniques and be working with a food safety research team. The project aims for controlling necrotic enteritis disease in chickens.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in animal science or veterinary medicine

Currently enrolled or eligible to enrolled in a full time MSc program from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Animal Science

Degree equivalency

Experience in bacterial culturing, aseptic technology and vaccination techniques
Experience in molecular biological techniques (including gene cloning and expression) and with bioinformatics tools
Experience with handling animals
