• The written exams may take place at Transport Canada Regional Offices located in Dorval and Québec city, Québec.

• The interviews will exclusively take place at the Dorval, Quebec Regional Office location.

• Travel related costs to attend the evaluations will be at the candidate's expense and will not be reimbursed.

• A covering letter is not required to apply on this process. However, candidates must demonstrate in the screening questions how they meet the essential qualifications (education and/or occupational certification AND experiences) and the asset qualifications. Clear examples must be provided by outlining WHERE, WHEN, HOW the degree was obtained, the experience was acquired, etc. Failure to do so could result in the application being screened out from further consideration. The fact of solely indicating that you meet the qualification and/or item will not be sufficient.

Inspectors must be leaders and skilled communicators capable of working effectively with others and adapting to the different needs of our clients. They must sometimes take rapid, decisive action and must be able to negotiate, facilitate behaviour change and develop new competencies in client industries. Inspectors work in an environment of high stress due to the possible impact of error and real or potential conflict. In the course of ensuring that regulations are respected, inspectors carry significant responsibility and accountability, their decisions have a direct impact on the safety of Canadians.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of essentially qualified candidates and may be used to staff similar term and indeterminate positions within Transport Canada, Quebec Region, Dorval Regional office, Longueuil and Quebec.

EDUCATION (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance and/or manufacturing.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Stream 1: CASI Airworthiness
• A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License (Category M1 OR Category M2 OR Category E OR Category S).

STREAM 2 - Airworthiness (Manufacturing):
A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License, or an aviation related college diploma/university degree, or an acceptable combination of education, aviation experience and aviation related training.

EXPERIENCES (STREAM 1 AND 2)
A record of holding progressively more responsible positions in an aviation maintenance and/or manufacturing organization demonstrating:
• Recent experience* in the inspection, modification, repair or manufacturing of aeronautical products; and,
• Recent experience* in the development, application and supervision or management of quality assurance systems or other equivalent aviation maintenance and/or manufacturing activities in an approved aviation maintenance and/or manufacturing organization.
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last 5 years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCES (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Experience using software applications other than word processing and spreadsheet software such as: Powerpoint, Visio, MS Project, etc.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with:
- Rotor Craft operations, or;
- Airline operations, or;
- Air Taxi operations, or;
- Recreational aircraft, or;
- Manufacturing processes (welding, plating, etc.), or;
- Avionics maintenance and repair, or;
- Non-destructive testing methods.
*By extensive experience, we expect the candidate has performed complex activities in a wide variety of situations.

Preference may be given to self-identified Employment Equity candidates to address under representation in the following designated groups: Aboriginal People; Women; Persons with disabilities; or Members of visible minority groups in order to address departmental objectives.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willing and able to occasionally work outside core business hours and on weekends.
• Willing and able to occasionally perform inspection and oversight activities in various aviation environments that may be hazardous.
