Duties

The candidate will be working on a project to develop extraction of polysaccharides from yellow mustard and sunflower pith and the physicochemical characterization of polysaccharides; evaluation of the effect of YMG and spp on the inhibition of starch hydrolysis and its implications in bread.

Work environment

The research lab is located at the Guelph Research and Development Centre – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Guelph, On). The incumbent’s work will include handling hazardous materials such as chemicals. Appropriate training will be provided to create a safe work environment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Chemistry or Biology.

Currently enrolled or eligible to enrolled in a Master program at the University of Guelph in Department of Chemistry.

Degree equivalency

Experience* in food chemistry

Experience* working in a research laboratory.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

With appropriate safety precautions in place, must be able and willing to work in laboratory for extended periods at a time, and able and willing to work with hazardous materials.

Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status at the University of Guelph.
