The Commissioner of Canada Elections (CCE) plays an important role in safeguarding Canadians’ trust in the democratic process. The CCE is the independent officer responsible for ensuring compliance with, and enforcement of, the Canada Elections Act and the Referendum Act. The Commissioner is supported by approximately 30 people, including federal public servants and independent contractors. The Commissioner's offices are located at 22 Eddy Street in Gatineau, Quebec.
The immediate need is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis.

Occupational Certification:
- Member in good standing in the Bar of one of the provinces of territories of Canada.
Experience:
- Significant* experience in providing advice on criminal or regulatory investigations and/or in the prosecution of criminal or regulatory matters.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring others on matters relating to criminal or regulatory investigations and/or litigation.
*Significant is defined as experience associated with a broad range of progressively increasing complexity of criminal or regulatory investigations and/or litigation over a ten (10) year period accumulated within the past fifteen (15) years.
Asset Qualifications - Experience:
- Experience in conducting complex regulatory prosecutions.
- Experience in the provision of advisory services to an investigative agency with respect to complex regulatory matters.
Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirement:

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the mandate of the Commissioner of Canada Elections.
- In-depth* knowledge of criminal law and procedures including knowledge of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and its relevant case law.
*In-depth is defined as specialist in one or more areas of law, having thorough knowledge.

- Secret security clearance
- Commitment to observe strict political impartiality and neutrality for the duration of employment. Please note that this does not affect your ability to vote.
- Member in good standing in the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada.
