Assessment accommodation

Important financial information:
Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of some relocation costs.
Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) ranges from $23,920 to $35,931, which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.
Vacation Travel Assistance is provided twice per year for each eligible member of the household.

The anticipated number of positions that may be staffed with this advertised process is two (2); however, a pool of qualified candidates will be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures within Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the Central and Arctic Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Secondary School diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in the field collection of biological data from marine or other aquatic environments
• Experience providing logistical and operational support to field camps.
• Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
• Experience operating boats

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in biology, environment, natural resources or a related field.

Degree equivalency

• Experience operating snowmobiles
• Experience in troubleshooting routine mechanical problems with small engines and with routine maintenance.
• Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Boat safety training – SVOP and MED A1
• Experience writing with technical or scientific documents
