Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Borden, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: At least seven years of combined experience with welding procedures, fabrication and repair. Must have experience in welding the following processes:

A. SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding);
B. GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding);
C. GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding);
D. FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding); and
E. Oxy-Acetylene welding and cutting.

EX2: Experience with sheet metal procedures and fabrication.

EX3: Experience with textile procedures, fabrication and repair.

EX4: Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Journeyman certificate in welding OR training and experience in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and FCAW repair and fabrication.

CWB Certified Welding Supervisor.

Journeyman certificate as a sheet metal worker OR training and experience with sheet metal repair and fabrication.

Certificate as an Industrial sewing machine operator OR training and experience in industrial sewing repair and fabrication.

Qualified Materials Technician DP 2 or QL 5, or higher.

Qualified in the following Materials Technician Specialities Specification (SS):

A. SS Advanced Welding Qualification;
B. SS Advanced Machining Qualification OR equivalent; and
C. SS Sea Container Inspector Qualification, a valid IICL certification OR equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Experience teaching in an Adult educational environment.

Experience teaching in a military school or training centre.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to work after hours.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Required to stand for lengthy periods of time while instructing/training and move a variety of training aids some of which can be heavy (i.e. welding coupons, test equipment, large tools).

Willing and able to instruct in a workshop environment.

Must possess valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class “G” vehicles.

Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain Departmental Driver’s Licence (DND 404).

Must wear and use Personal Protective Equipment.
