A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff the position of Director Hydrography in Maritimes and Quebec Regions. The pool could also be used to make acting, determinate or indeterminate bilingual imperative appointments at the EX-01 group and level for Director, Hydrography positions, or similar, within Fisheries and Oceans Canada or the Public Service of Canada. All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to staff a similar position in their organization.

EDUCATION:
Degree in Science, engineering or geomatics from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in managing scientific or technical teams in the field or in an operational setting.
Experience in program management
Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborations with governments, industry or academia.
Experience in delivering programs to meet client needs
Experience in managing human and financial resources.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the priorities of the Government of Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Hydrographic Service’s role, and how they relate to oceans and freshwater sciences.
Knowledge of emerging trends, issues and challenges within the federal Science and Technology community.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional valid Accreditation as Canada Lands Surveyor or Hydrographers from the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors
Experience in program management related to environmental issues
Knowledge of aquatic environmental sciences and issues of importance for the Sciences sector of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
