The student will collect and analyze soil and crop samples to investigate how organic amendments and synthetic fertilizer applications affect soil carbon fractionation, soil carbon sequestration and improve soil health. Student will perform laboratory analyses of collected samples and conduct statistical analyses of the data generated and contribute to the writing of at least one scientific paper.
The student will be taking classes at University of Lethbridge and conducting laboratory and field experiments at the Lethbridge Research and Development Centre (LeRDC) of Agriculture of Agri-Food Canada and at University of Lethbridge. Field work is usually accompanied by an experienced soil chemistry technician. The student will also work in greenhouse and labs of various scientists at LeRDC at Dr. Hazendonk’s lab, University of Lethbridge.
