Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate full time position. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) in Prince George, BC.

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); for various positions with various tenures, various security profiles and various language requirements.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in performing client service duties (such as answering telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages, reception duties, etc.).

• Experience in performing clerical duties (filing, processing mail, data-entry, scanning documents, etc.).

• Experience in using word processing and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Recent* experience in managing hard copy and electronic records.
"Managing" records involves opening, maintaining; and concluding records.

“Recent” experience means experience obtained within approximately the last 2 years.

Successful candidates will have to obtain, as a minimum, an Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain a security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred official language in their application.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel and relocation expenses.

You must provide proof of your Canadian Citizenship. The original of one of the following documents must be provided for verification:

• Registration of Birth Abroad certificates (issued between Jan. 1, 1947 and Feb. 14, 1977)

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
