The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. The immediate need is to staff three positions on an indeterminate basis: a Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC position in Business Executive Services (BES) in CFB Halifax, NS; an English Essential in Maritime Atlantic Headquarters (MARLANT HQ) in CFB Halifax, NS; and an English Essential position in Naval Personnel Training Group (NPTG) in CFB Esquimalt, BC.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and levels with various tenures and security profiles.

Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in media studies (public relations, communications or journalism) or other acceptable specialization or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Note:
For entry as an IS, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to post-secondary institution graduation at the manager's discretion.
Experience:
- Recent* experience in writing and revising communications and/or marketing documents.
- Recent* experience in coordinating communications projects or events that include multiple communications products; this might include but is not limited to news releases, backgrounders, web writing, social media, speaking notes, speeches, fact sheets, brochures and articles.
- Recent* experience in providing communications advice and services.
*Recent is defined as obtaining the experience within the previous five years.

- Experience in responding to enquiries from the public or media.
- Experience in the logistical component of event coordination.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of current issues related to Defence and/or the Canadian Armed Forces.
