Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Naval Architecture or other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience:
- Experience in providing expertise and recommendations to managers, supervisors, work groups, committees or production employees.
- Experience producing technical drawings.
- Experience writing technical engineering reports.
- Experience in docking events and / or stability experiments for ships and / or submarines.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of stability requirements for ships and / or submarines.
Personal Suitability:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- History of effective teamwork.
- History of dependability.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to the support of ships and submarines.
Education:
- Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
- Other relevant specialized education and training.
Occupational Certification:
- Maintain a recognized professional designation (i.e. P.Eng., EIT, PMP).
Experience / Knowledge:
- Knowledge of conducting shock analysis of structures or equipment employed in the marine environment.
- Knowledge of the application of Materials Engineering practices in the marine environment.
- Knowledge of the design and operation of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) in the marine environment.
- Knowledge of hydrodynamics of ships or submarines.
- Knowledge of conducting ship structural analysis.
- Experience in the use of a departmental business process system, such as Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) or another SAP- based program.
- Experience with engineering software, such as: Paramarine, General Hydrostatics, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Microstation, Rhino, Polyworks, etc.
- Experience in managing the operations of a multi-disciplined work group (to include engineers, technicians or draftsmen) in the conduct of technical activities

Occasionally, this position requires candidates to work:
- overtime, evenings and on weekends at short notice; and
- at height, in confined spaces, or in high noise areas.

- Ability to work in an open office environment and in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work on and transfer to/from ships and submarines via small boat or helicopter. Ability to travel nationally or internationally.
