Work environment

The RCMP in BC has an Application Development Team that is looking for innovative Developers. You will have the opportunity to learn new things as you apply modern design principles to new and existing solutions for the RCMP in BC. You will have the opportunity to work on many different projects branching across multiple teams within the RCMP.

The Team is located at the RCMP BC Headquarters in Surrey, BC. The office has great amenities and is only a short walk to the King George Skytrain station. This role works a 40 hour week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work variable start times or completing their hours of work over 8 or 9 days instead of 10 in a two week period. This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

This is a temporary position until March 31, 2020, with possibility of extension.

The result of this selection process will be to create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to fill future permanent or temporary vacancies.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Essential Qualifications
Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• **Recent experience performing programming and analytical tasks in a systems development environment.

• *Significant experience with ASP.NET MVC framework using C# or VB.NET.

• *Significant and **recent experience using MS T-SQL programming language.

• *Significant and **recent experience of using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

* Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of duties over approximately 18 months or more.
** “Recent” is defined as the performance of duties within approximately the last 24 months.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.
