Work environment

The work is being performed in a police detachment environment. This results in occasional exposure to intoxicated mentally unstable, hostile and potentially violent individuals to victims of crime or relatives of accident victims who may be distraught. The work is performed in an open office environment. It involves tight deadlines, time pressures frequent interruptions, conflicting priorities and multiple demands from staff, callers and visitors.

Intent of the process

Intent to fill 1 indeterminate position. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions or for future term, acting, assignment, secondment, deployment, or indeterminate opportunities.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Successful completion of two years secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, or experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience performing general clerical duties.

Experience in providing assistance to the public, customers, or clients.

Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel or equivalents).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience with electronic and hard copy files.

Experience working with financial information or financial documents (such as invoices, accounts payable, reconciling credit statements, or petty cash).

Experience in the use of Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS).

Experience in the use of Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).

Assessment for this process will take place in Nelson House, Manitoba. The cost to attend the assessment will be the candidate's responsibility. Nelson House is classified as an Isolated Post and has limited housing. As such, the successful candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. The candidate must not have a Criminal Record. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
