Under the supervision of a Chief Operating Officer of a building, the incumbent shall provide maintenance, installation and repair services for fire alarm systems, distribution systems and pneumatic and digital control systems used in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and heating systems for occupants of buildings operated and maintained by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
Main activities:
Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and modify lighting and fire systems, alarm circuit panels, wire and cable networks and all their components as well as HVAC systems.
Operate the control room and perform inspection rounds to observe operating controls, examine and calibrate instruments, meters and level meters, and ensure that industrial control loops are in good operating condition.
Conduct preventive maintenance work in accordance with the framework and guidelines of a preventive maintenance program and record the data.
Install, upgrade and maintain control instruments for high and low pressure boiler, pressure vessel, chiller, generator, water supply, liquid and gaseous fuel systems, burner control systems and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Update system configuration files and redesign control points to increase network performance.

EDUCATION
Secondary School diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant** experience (see Note 1) in the maintenance, repair and operation of electrical building components of office, commercial, institutional or government buildings.
Recent* and significant** experience (see Note 1) in computerized building and facility mechanical system control of office, commercial, institutional or government buildings.
Note 1: Experience limited to residential facilities does not count.
*Recent means in the last five (5) years.
** Significant means approximately three (3) years

KNOWLEDGE
Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, techniques and practices related to alarm and control systems with respect to building mechanical control system monitoring.
Knowledge of current techniques for maintaining electrical systems and controls.
Knowledge of principles governing the operation of air handling systems.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.
Knowledge of the environmental principles governing buildings.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and understanding of ASHRAE standards.
Knowledge of Siemens building automation systems.
•Security clearance : Various security clearance: Reliability Status and conditional employment with the obtention of a security clearance from the client
•Valid driver’s licence
•Wear required clothing, shoes and safety equipment
•Availability to work on a flexible schedule and/or evenings and weekends and on call.
•Be available to work overtime on short notice
•Be available according to the rotation schedule established with other technicians for service calls outside normal business hours.
