Intent of the process

Our immediate need is to staff a French essential indeterminate position in Quebec City (Quebec).

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possesses a technical degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following fields: forestry technology, natural resources technology, natural environment technology, or any other technical degree related to a natural sciences curriculum.

Degree equivalency

Experience carrying out and supervising forest management and vegetation control operations at an industrial scale.
Experience conducting various types of forest inventories.
Experience preparing and drafting technical reports.
Experience carrying out forestry operations, including the construction of forest roads.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience applying phytocides to control vegetation.
Experience with aerial pesticide application.
Experience implementing laboratory and field research protocols in the context of a forest research project.

In-depth knowledge* of forest operation standards and harvested timber measurement standards.

*In-depth knowledge refers to the following: to have memorized the main forest operation and harvested timber measurement standards, and to be able to explain their basis; to have applied these two standards in a practical work environment.

Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to use a geographic information system (GIS), to handle and to process georeferenced data using ESRI’s ArcGIS software.
Ability to work as part of a team and to supervise contractors.
Ability to use office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
