Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to establish a fully assessed pool of qualified candidates. The immediate use of the pool will be to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Toronto. However, the results of this process may be used to staff similar or identical positions for future vacancies of various tenures in various locations within Public Services and Procurement Canada in the Ontario Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position; OR
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada in a specialty relevant to the duties of the position; OR
Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution; OR
Licensed as an Architect in Canada.

Foreign education credentials: You must have your foreign education credentials deemed comparable to Canadian standards by a recognized credential assessment service prior to the interview stage of the process.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience Real Property Projects, specifically:

- In planning and managing various phases of design and construction projects such as office fit-ups and/or building renovations with varying degrees of complexity*** and magnitude.
- In working in, or managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Definitions:

Experience is defined as work-related experience acquired in the identified field following graduation.

Real Property is defined as land, buildings, and anything attached to the land.

*Recent is defined as within the five (5) years immediately prior to the closing date of this job opportunity advertisement.

** Significant is defined as the complexity and diversity of work which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately 4 years where the candidate progressively performed various roles in the planning and management of construction projects.

***Complexity is viewed in terms of risk. Candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in the management of complex projects with at least one (1) risk factor, for example: high technical difficulty (e.g. laboratory fit-up requiring specialized mechanical systems), projects implemented in secure facilities (e.g. correctional facilities with restrictions for access by construction crew), high stakeholder/community and media interest, stringent regulatory compliance requirements, physical challenges (e.g. repair of marine structures requiring diversion of waterways or dewatering), heritage restrictions, unknown site conditions.

LEED Certification
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada
Licensed as an Architect in Canada
