Duties

The position consists of:
• Plan and manage construction projects as well as the related budgets.
• Act as a technical advisor.
• Provide advice and make recommendations to the Directorate on technical matters regarding the field of activity.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of engineering reports and act as an informed client with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

Intent of the process

The intention of this process is to fill a position for a period of one year (with possible extension). A pool of qualified candidates could be created for similar positions with various tenures (temporary, permanent) and locations at Transport Canada, Quebec Region. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the duties of the position such as in construction engineering, in building engineering, or in civil engineering.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Recent and significant* experience managing construction projects in accordance with Canadian codes and specifications (e.g., National Building Code).
• Experience preparing technical reports.
• Experience preparing technical standards or technical procedures.
• Experience providing technical advice to managers or supervisors, as well as to clients such as working groups, committees, etc.

* Recent and significant experience is defined as a minimum of five (5) years’ experience acquired within the last seven (7) years.
